On October 9, the CDC unveiled a custom rare book state at the Stephen B. Thacker library. This was made possible through a donation from the Thacker Family. The books displayed will be
rotated periodically with various titles. We hope that the prominent display of these books and the diversity of topics will stimulate others to pursue their own scientific inquiries as a living
tribute to Dr. Thacker. In addition, some funds were used to purchase some special books for the collection.

Our deadline is Mar 15, 2013. Please call today! Messages should be BRIEF, no more than 2 minutes.

After everyone has called in, we will arrange the messages into a playlist or “VoiceQuilt”. Then the family will have it as a keepsake filled with memories about Steve for years to come which they can share with grandchildren and others.

Thank you for the overwhelming response on Take Them a Meal. We are grateful to you all. I know many more of you would like to bring food, but we simply do not have enough stomachs to feed and it would go to waste. Mom and Dad instead ask that a donation be made to the Atlanta Community Food Bank in dad's name: http://www.acfb.org/. Simply click the Donate button and check the box that says "Yes, this is an honor or memorial gift." Then make an "honor" gift in the name "Stephen Thacker." It's cold outside and especially during the holidays there are those who need the meals more than we do at the moment.
As the disease progresses we are likely to add additional dates to the food calendar and we will announce this on the site. At this time we are not going to add any more dates for delivery past June 7, 2013, but may add more dates at a later time. There is no need to call - we will post any updates to the schedule right here and on the www.TakeThemAMeal.com website. Please do not drop off food unscheduled at the house. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Please do NOT add dates to the schedule on the www.TakeThemAMeal.com website. Mom and Dad are still enjoying cooking dinner at home on dates that are not provided.
If you would like to cook or send a dinner to mom and dad please visit: www.TakeThemAMeal.com
On December 30th Steve turns 65. Our goal was to raise $500 so we can give him a recumbent bike to use at home. The illness has caused balance issues keeping him from his daily workouts. As many of you know, his workouts and being heart healthy are very important to him.
Since posting this link we have been overwhelmed with an outpouring of donations and are well past our goal-we are bike shopping! The additional funds raised will go towards a special birthday for Steve and towards his medical care. We, the Thacker family, cannot express to each one of you how grateful we are to each donation and guestbook post we receive. We do make sure dad receives your messages.
If you are so inclined to contribute, many thanks in advance. We will add your name to his birthday card! Any amount is welcome, big or small. This birthday fundraiser will end December 29th. Click the link below to donate.
