Dad Turns 65

Sunday, December 30, 2012

On December 30, 2012, Steve turned 65.

Our goal was to raise $500 so we could give him a recumbent bike to use at home.  Unfortunately, the illness has caused balance issues keeping him from his daily workouts. As many of you know, his workouts and being heart healthy were very important to him.

We were overwhelmed with the outpouring of donations and exceeded our goal. The additional funds raised went towards a special birthday for Steve and his medical care.

Locker Room Dedication

Thursday, December 27, 2012

St. Pius X Catholic High School

The St. Pius X basketball community honored Coach Steve Thacker in December of 2012. Steve coached countless numbers of girls’ basketball players at IHM and St. Pius X for over 20 years. In appreciation of Steve’s contribution to the St. Pius X Community, the girls’ locker room was named in his honor.

Now retired St. Pius X Athletic Director Mark Kelly said, “Steve’s passion is coaching girls’ basketball. He even spends his summer vacation time coaching summer camps. Coach by night and a high-level director of the CDC by day, Steve is loved and respected by all who come into contact with him.”

Kristin Vari ’01, Coach Ron Sattele and Coach Stephanie Dunn were among the hosts for this event.
